Afghan Women have urged the Taliban to include them in the Government

Women from the government and non-governmental organisations gathered to voice their concerns about the future and how women will be represented in any future government. This comes as the Taliban has announced the start of talks to form a new government. “Afghanistan’s women cannot be ignored by the people, the government, or any official who will form a state in the future.

We will not relinquish our right to an education, to work, or to participate in politics and society.” Human rights activist FarihaEsar stated. Protesters argue that the Taliban cannot ignore women’s achievements and struggles over the last two decades.The Taliban has previously stated that women will be granted rights under Islamic law and will be able to work within the same social framework as men, but they have not defined this Islamic framework.
