Exposure of Delta Variant in Gilgit Baltistan

At a press conference on Friday, the chief minister of Gilgit Baltistan along with information minister Fatahullah Khan and law minister Syed Sohail Abbas said that the delta variant of Coronavirus is spreading in Gilgit Baltistan and the rate of positive cases has risen to 8.5 %.
He mentioned that the situation regarding covid was strictly followed in the region. Whereas, the economy of the region does not allow another lockdown. Specific measures and standard operating procedures will be taken in terms of tourism and other activities.
He likewise mentioned that there is a total of 75 oxygen cylinders and 212 beds for covid patients but the positive cases are 845 as of now. He added that a total of 122 people died due to this pandemic situation. More items about this situation will be required if needed.
Adding that he said approximately 10,000 people were being vaccinated in Gilgit Baltistan daily and the whole region would have been inoculated by September but the new variant has been exposed to the region regardless of the measures which have been taken.
He added the tourist activities and other projects were being done after ensuring covid test and vaccination certificates. He advised people to strictly abide by the safety and precautionary measures.
The minister also mentioned the Tatta Pani section of the Karakoram Highway in his letter and asked about the advancement of the area as a tourist visit the area and it will help in CPEC related trade. He said that the area is risky and highly prone to mud sliding in case of minimal rainfall as well.
