FATF Grey List; India Admits it’s Dirty Role in Conspiring Against Pakistan
20 July 2021
India’s External Affair Minister S Jaishankar in a press conference addressing the leader committee of BJP confessed that it is due to the Modi Governments “efforts” that Pakistan was placed in the grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Jaishankar supposedly said that it is well known that FATF keeps a check on the funding for illegal terrorism activities and due to us Pakistan is under supervision, India have been successful in keeping Pakistan under pressure and thus Pakistan’s behavior is changed.
On June 25, FATF recognized Pakistan’s effort in bettering its behavior in the region and successfully implementing 26 out of 27 items on its action plan in the country. FATF is now focusing on Pakistan regarding the shortcomings in their plan.
FATF President declared that despite the improvement made in Pakistan under the Action Plan, there are still a few area in which work and advancement is needed. This includes the risk in Pakistan regarding money laundering leading to corruption and organized crime.
FATF declared that this issue should be addressed by raising awareness in the private sector of Pakistan and increasing number of investigation and allowing international law enforcement agencies to trace these and seize illegal assets.
He added that this is to help the relevant authorities in identifying problems that occur in their domain, raise awareness about it and finding effective solutions for it and to stop organized crime from benefitting from the already struggling economy of Pakistan.
