In the Minar-e-Pakistan Harassment and Assault Case, Additional 26 Individuals have Been Apprehended
According to available information, the Punjab Police have detained a total of 26 persons in the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment and assault case. Their suspected involvement in the crime was reported. Punjab police conducted raids in Faisalabad, Kasur, and Sheikhupura. During the operation, they detained 26 persons, bringing the total number of arrests to 92.
According to reports, 66 men were detained the day before for assaulting and abusing a woman near Minar-e-Pakistan. As per police, a total of 407 vile men were involved in this crime. Aside from the 92 persons detained, others in custody for inquiry have been freed. Of them, 40 have been imprisoned for participating in an identification parade, and another 30 are expected to be imprisoned.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the Minar-e-Pakistan harassment and assault case on August 18th. According to Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari’s tweets, the PM directly spoke with the IG police over the matter of woman abuse and vandalism of Ranjit Singh’s statue at the Lahore Fort.
Earlier, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, a spokesperson for the Punjab administration, stated that the perpetrators are being identified using camera footage. He stated that the suspects in the video have been identified and would be brought to justice.
