According to Times Now, the Indian government approved the purchase of 56 C-295 MW transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force from a private company based in Spain on Wednesday. According to the report, “this is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be produced in India by a private company.” According to the report, 16 aircraft will be delivered in flyaway condition from Spain within 48 months of contract signing, and 40 aircraft will be produced in India by TATA Consortium within ten years of the agreement.
The aircraft will be outfitted with a native electronic warfare suite, according to an official statement cited in the report. The C-295 MW is a modern transport aircraft with a 5-10 ton potential that will replace the IAF’s ageing Avro aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with a rear ramp door for quick reaction and transfer of troops and cargo. The project will help India’s aerospace ecosystem by involving several MSMEs from across the country in the production of aircraft parts, according to the company. According to the report, a large number of detail parts, sub-assemblies, and major part components of aero structure will be manufactured in India further said.
