Pakistan Reports Highest Death Toll in Fourth Wave of Covid-19

Pakistan reports the highest recorded loss of life from the fourth Covid wave. The infection has recently risen significantly in Pakistan, with the COVID-19 positivity rate standing at 8.24 %. According to NCOC data, the country reported 4,720 new cases in the last 24 hours.
Pakistan had 131 deaths as of May 20. With the addition of new fatalities, the total death toll now stands at 23,797. On Saturday, the country announced 4,720 new diseases, bringing the total number of cases to 1,063,125. According to NCOC data, 57,233 tests are currently required to screen for COVID-19.
Approximately 959,491 patients from covid cases have recovered from this lethal virus, bringing the total number of active cases to 79,837. For the first time in nearly three months, the COVID-19 positivity rate exceeded 9 percent. On May 10, the country’s Covid positivity rate was 9.12 percent.
Sindh is currently under lockdown until August 8, while the Punjab and AJK governments have also imposed a fractional lockdown. Punjab has declared a state of emergency in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad.
