Pakistan Urges the World to Positively Engage with Afghanistan During a Meeting with NATO Delegation

Sohail Mahmood, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary, urged the international community to maintain a positive engagement with Afghanistan in order to avoid humanitarian crises and mass exodus from the country.The statement was made during a meeting with a NATO delegation led by Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan, Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the foreign secretary discussed the latest developments in the region and emphasized the importance of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.

The foreign secretary also emphasized Pakistan’s role in facilitating the evacuation of diplomatic personnel and embassies and international organisations from Afghanistan. Ambassador Pontecorvo thanked the Government of Pakistan for assisting NATO allies in their evacuation efforts.

The NATO delegation’s visit is part of NATO’s outreach to Pakistan. According to the statement, Pakistan values its relations with NATO, which are based on shared interests in regional peace and stability.
