Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has released an expanded list of 37 heads of state or government designated as “press freedom predators,” including two women for the first time. Leaders from Brazil, Cuba, Pakistan, Singapore, Russia, and the Philippines are on RSF’s list of “press freedom predators” for 2021.
According to RSF, 17 of the leaders, or nearly half of the new list, are first-time entrants.More than a third of the leaders were from Asia-Pacific.
“There are now 37 leaders from around the world in RSF’s predators of press freedom gallery, and no one can claim that this list is exhaustive,” said RSF Secretary-General Christophe Deloire in a statement.
